CHAT PILE
From the sludgy noise rock territory of Oklahoma City, Chat Pile has released their sophomore full-length album Cool World (2024) via The Flenser! Into the band’s twisted foundational sound, they meld traces of other eclectic genre stylings, such as gazy, goth-tinged dirges and alternative indie-esque hooks and metal grooves, challenging their own ‘comfort tones’.
Chat Pile - a namesake for the towering mounds of toxic waste – is a constant reminder that dread has replaced the American dream. Cool World focuses on apocalyptic disasters through subthemes such as the ongoing colonial crimes against humanity, passive consumer violence, and mental anguish of hopelessness – all sorts of atrocities that are pretty much standard parts of modern existence.
